Will the mystery of the missing porridge be solved? We all know it will. But that’s just the beginning of the adventure when Goldilocks meets Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Bubba Bear at their woodland vacation retreat.
Famous operatic music by composers such as Mozart, Rossini and Verdi, plus a new script and lyrics by Donald Westwood, draw the young audience into the action.
Children ages three to ten will delight in this new interactive introduction to opera. Previous productions by the Children’s Opera Theatre at Belleayre include “Little Red Riding Hood,” “The Frog Prince” and “Merlyn and Arthur.”
Don Westwood, Opera Stage Director
Kingston Daily Freeman music critic Kitty Montgomery called last season’s “Carmen,” “brilliant!” Additional regional reviews have celebrated Belleayre productions as “ennobling and heart wrenching” and “a perfect performance.” Previous productions by Donald Westwood have been called “exemplary” by The New York Times, “very special” by the New York Post, and “a welcome addition to this city’s music” by New York magazine. Opera News magazine has recognized Donald Westwood’s productions as “a dynamic alternative to the giants at Lincoln Center.”
The Belleayre Opera program is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Eleanor Naylor Dana Charitable Trust. |
