For the second year in a row, three well-respected musicians with long ties to the Catskill region will join forces for a piano recital in the Overlook Lodge. Last year, The Belleayrians mesmerized a packed house with both solo and six-hand performances. Each brings a different approach to the piano and each favors a different part of the repertory.
John Covelli is a dazzling musician who has a way of winning standing ovations from audiences without flash or gimmicks. While recognized as one of the more versatile conductors of his generation, Mr. Covelli has, for most of his life, been known and respected as an extraordinary pianistic talent.
Longtime Catskills resident, Justin Kolb has toured throughout Europe and the Middle East. He has also appeared as soloist at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, Lincoln Center and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and at Chicago's Orchestra Hall. He is a favorite performer at the International Liszt Festival, Canada's Great Romantics Festival, and he recently performed the Peter Schickele “Concerto for Piano and Chorus: The Twelve Months” in Chicago with the William Ferris Chorale.
Idith Meshulam first performed with the Tel Aviv Chamber Orchestra at age nine. She eventually spent several years playing with the Kibbutzim Orchestra, all the while giving solo recitals and broadcast concerts throughout her native Israel. When she moved to the United States, she received her Ph.D. from New York University, where she taught for ten years.
