The Trio
Da Paz (Trio of Peace) is one of the most important
and visible Brazilian jazz groups in the world. The
group includes Romero Lubambo on guitar, Nilson Matta
on bass and Duduka DeFonseca on drums and percussion.
The band tours internationally bringing the joys of
Brazilian music and the talent of composers like Antonio
Carlos Jobim to appreciative audiences worldwide. Festival
audiences will remember the 2001 brilliant Jazz and
Jobim concert featuring the Trio with guests Herbie
Mann and Ceasar Carmargo Mariano. Formed in 1986 Trio
Da Paz has recorded four CDs, "Black Orpheus,"
"Partido Out," "Brazil From the Inside,"
and their newest release the critically acclaimed "Café."
Duduka DeFonseca was nominated for a 2003 Grammy award.
