The Independence
Day weekend will be celebrated in grand style as the
Belleayre Music Festival kicks off its 12th season with
a patriotic tribute titled "From Sea To Shining
Sea." Ever since September 11, we as Americans
have relearned the meaning of security and defense and
have recognized the major efforts of our citizen armed
forces now involved in protecting our freedom around
the world. This concert is in honor of our sons and
daughters, brothers and sisters who stand guard while
we enjoy the peace and serenity of our beautiful mountain
setting. Joining together for this musical celebration
of the American spirit will be the Binghamton Philharmonic,
Binghamton University Chorus and Community Chorale of
the Catskills. More than 100 singers lending their voices
to this uplifting spectacle will back the symphony orchestra.
By popular demand, an added attraction will be an encore
performance of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture"
which was a stunning crowd-pleaser at the Festival last
season. John Covelli, Conductor Laureate, will guide
the Binghamton Philharmonic in this rousing patriotic
concert.
The Philharmonic
program is made possible by a grant from the Edward
J. Scheider Foundation.
